Introduction of It Education and Technology-Need of the
Hour
A number of people alert the prospective and adverse effects of the introduction of IT education and technology
inside the schools and the classrooms. A number of questions would be cropping up especially in the minds of the
parents whose kids are being taught in such technology enabled schools. These questions could be: would the kid
fail to relate himself to other people? Would the kid become dependent so much on the technology that he
would lose the ability to learn things by himself? Would the kid find some unnecessary materials in the
technology?
Well, negations would always with the advent of almost anything new. However, the consequences of the
introduction of technology in schools and classrooms would never be disastrous for sure. The technology has allowed
people unlimited amounts of access to unlimited amounts of information, which takes the form of meaningful
knowledge. If used in an appropriate manner and actively under the right supervision of the teachers, technology
devises important tools for the designing of high-levels of intellect.
Besides this, if IT education is used in a proper manner and if technology is executed in the classroom in
creative ways, learning among the students would become more or less fun for them. Teachers would be able to help
the students learn both the old and the new concepts in a much innovative and creative manner which they would have
never come across before. Students could easily be drilled into computers for practically working out what they
have learnt, so that they gain a practical experience of things that happen in life and in the world.
Teachers, moreover, could make use of the multi media to introduce more illustrated and stimulating descriptions
of the subject and the topics on which they are teaching. Hence, both the technology and the education of
information technology hold a prominent place in the world of academics but then, and it is for this reason that
such innovative and meaningful use of these does not start tapping the complexities of both the concepts. They are
only used for the meaningful development of the kids and students that are receiving knowledge from
them.
There was a time when there was limited access to technology and the concept of providing IT education in schools
was completely absent. However, in a number of countries, especially in the country of America, extensive
investments were made almost a decade ago which have considerably improved the scenario of the schools that exist
over there today.
As per the Fourth Annual Report on Teacher Quality given by the Secretary, almost all the schools are quipped
with computers having unlimited amounts of access to the internet in comparison to only thirty five percent schools
back in the year 1994. Even the public schools have seen a far-reaching progress in increasing the access to the
internet in the classrooms as compared to ninety three percent schools in the year 2003. Plus the society is even
seeing a great access to the technology these days. People prefer to get in touch with each other through e-mails
instead of letters. Hence, the society has extensively accepted the use of technology in the society.
